German Shepherds

With more than 10 years’ experience breeding, raising, training and showing exceptional German Shepherd Dogs, Steppenwolf Kennels is pleased to offer our puppies to loving, responsible pet and show homes.

We are located in scenic rural Michigan, where our dogs and puppies thrive on the liberal amounts of fresh air, sunshine and TLC that we give them. All of our dogs and puppies are raised right in our home as members of the family, and we take great pride in our selective breeding program. We strive for excellent temperament, health and beautiful structure. We breed from imported, working show bloodlines with titled, V and VA rated parents. Our dogs are equally at home in the conformation ring, the Schutzhund field or laying by the fireplace! We have placed dogs as SAR prospects AND therapy assistant dogs. Our goal is to breed a versatile German Shepherd – not just a sport or show dog.

As highly responsible breeders, we take careful measures to ensure that all of our dogs are healthy and free from congenital health disorders. All of our adult dogs are hip certified. Our puppies are carefully examined by our veterinarian, fully vaccinated and dewormed prior to being placed in their new homes. We offer a written health and hip guarantee, offering a full cash refund within the first two days and replacement after that. In keeping with our kennel policy, “pet-quality” puppies are sold on a limited registration. Breeding quality puppies are sold on a limited registration until proof OFA hip certification has been received.  This helps us to do our part to protect the breed against irresponsible breeding practices.

We care about each of our puppies very much, and are very careful to ensure that they are being placed with caring, knowledgeable and responsible people. We do this out of our concern for the well-being of our puppies, and greatly appreciate our buyer’s co-operation in helping us to make sure that pups are being placed in homes where they will be given the love, care, attention, nutrition and regular veterinary care that they need in order to live a long, happy and healthy life. German Shepherd dogs require a firm hand and early and consistent obedience training in order to reach their full potential.

We try to match each puppy with right family, based on their lifestyle, ages and number of children, other pets and living arrangements. A fenced yard and obedience classes for new owners are a must. We are happy to provide any advice and support that may be needed in adjusting to life with your new family member, and we enjoy staying in touch with our puppies and their new families.
